^ so you think you can dance; 2007; 'bleeding love' hip hop dance

^ michael jackson wearing hip hop attire

the first video feat'ing chelsea & mark with their hip hop routine for the so you think you can dance show in 2007, i chose because it's remained in my mind since i first viewed it in '07 with some girl friends until now. it's a work of art in that sense, for me, because it's not every performance or art object that lives like that. i have to admit that this dance doesn't tell its story completely on its own without costume and without song--it does need the costume, but it doesn't necessarily need the song to tell the story. the visual element of color and cultural reference with the clothing definitely aids in understanding what's going on in the partner dancing. but the clothing wouldn't do the job alone--the dance does do the biggest performance in and of itself. i suppose what i'm saying through this is that i like this clip for its narrative quality, the different emotions conveyed by the tension and release of movements, and now, seeing it again while taking hip hop and modern dance classes at OSU, i like seeing some of the movements that i learned being utilized in their competition.

i inserted the michael jackson clip not only because MJ passed recently but because i like the video purely for its visual show. i like the colors of MJ's fashion, and i like the general attire of him. i know that bboyers and hip hop dancers who really breathe the dance tend to signate themselves with their attire as well as their dance.

I really enjoy the ‘bleeding love’ hip hop dance. The dance associated with a lot of body rolling, popping, locking, and etc. along with the acting. We really can see how hip hop dance has a dramatically change from breakdancing to nowadays some people transformed it into a “storytelling”/acting performance. In order to make the performance looks better, the dancers not only show their dancing technique, but also their emotion/ facial expression. This dance is very successful on telling the story of how the girl was upset about her boyfriend was leaving her. The girl is just so passionate, and she captures the emotion so well. Amazing performance!

I really liked the dance to bleeding love as it told a story through their dance moves and through the music as well. Both of the dancers used their bodies very well with their transitions from popping to locking. This dance and the music went very well together and showed the emotion of both dancers very nicely! It was a great performance.

I like this video i think it goes well with the Michael Jackson moonwalk to heaven i put up, because it shows the many differnt aspects of what hip hop. As the anouncer said Michael normally creates his own style but crossed over and joined the hip hop look. i feel that the many different aspects of hip hop from danve music, culture each lean on each other, and thats what makes hip hop so great and diverse.

I liked the Bleeding Love routine so much I watched it twice. But, I have to say that I think Chelsea was a much more interesting dancer to watch. While Mark does the steps correctly, she does more with each step. She puts herself into the dance and adds her own style to each step. She also plays her part emotionally-- you can see it in her facial expressions. It really draws the audience in-- I found myself watching her the entire time.

The dancing form of “bleeding love” is so refreshing, since it not only delighted me with the physical movement, but also impressed me with the story it’s trying to portray. This pas de deux hip hop likely absorbed some elements of performance from tango, which romanticize the dance. And the intricate dancing skills of hip hop intensified the emotions it is trying to get across. The attires enable the story to be portrayed vividly, and the music is used to disclose the theme and evoke the sympathy within the audience. I myself was deeply affected by their dance for sure. From this video, I am better aware of the evolvement and diversity of hip hop dance today.

This video is extremely great and the dancers are talented it is like they put every style of dance mixed them together which makes it very interesting. I wonder if they are known dancers, they are really mastered how to move every part of their body.
